BERN – Over 7.2 million vaccine doses have been administered in Switzerland to date. And up to 29 June, Swissmedic examined 3,419 notifications of suspected adverse reactions. In 2’125 cases (62.2%) – as evidenced by a press release today – these were non-serious reactions, while 1’294 (37.8%) were classified as serious.
Those affected are on average 62 years old (age group 16-101), of which 30.3% are aged 75 or over. In cases classified as serious the average age is 65.2 years, while in cases notified in relation to the deaths it is 80.6 years.
The notifications mostly concern women (67.4%), 29.4% men and in some notifications (3.2%) the gender was not indicated. There are 1,377 (40.3%) notifications referring to the Pfizer / BioNTech Comirnaty and 1,983 (58%) those relating to the Moderna preparation. In 59 (1.7%) cases the vaccine was not specified.
The notifications of undesirable effects received and analyzed so far – specifies Swissmedic – do not affect the positive risk-benefit profile of the coronavirus vaccines used in Switzerland.
