The extension of the red zone was requested by the mayor of CALTANISSETTA from the President of the Sicilian Region, Nello Musumeci. This morning the mayor presided over the municipal operations center. “The data are truly alarming and the contagion rate far exceeds 250 per 100,000 inhabitants,” Gambino told Adnkronos. “After 20 days in the red zone, the infections do not appear to decrease, I am very worried,” says the mayor.
“Considering that from the report sent by the ASP of CALTANISSETTA in the week from 28 March to 03 April 2021, despite the precautionary measures adopted, an exponentially growing trend of infections in the city was recorded and in particular n. 244 new cases – writes Gambino in the request to Musumeci – that in the light of the aforementioned data, the current percentage index is equal to 0.40%, which results in a cumulative weekly incidence of infections for every 100,000 inhabitants significantly higher than 0.25 %, a figure indicated as a limit for the application of the measures established for the red zone by the national measures regarding the containment and contrast of Covid-19 “, that there is no decrease in the contagiousness index and rather continues to highlight a contagion trend still highly progressive, so following the Coc meeting held on 5 April 2021 it was agreed on the need for a further extension of the measures currently in force “.
