Genoa – A 75-year-old woman was admitted to the intensive care unit of the Galliera hospital in Genoa after the doctors found a severe thrombocytopenia.
Over the past few weeks, the woman had received the second dose of the Covid Moderna vaccine.
The 75-year-old had been transferred to the Galliera last night; the investigations carried out by the doctors of the hospital highlighted the strong lack of platelets and considered it appropriate to admit the woman to the Intensive Care Unit.
Given his state of health, the transfer to the medical ward will be arranged for today.
At the moment, a direct link between the symptoms and the vaccine has not been verified, but the hypothesis is considered valid by doctors.
Until the checks that will be conducted by the experts, it is not possible to attribute the causal link to the vaccine which, as reiterated in various circumstances by the experts, is safe and the only way out of the difficult pandemic situation brought about by the spread of Covid-19. .
