The visual aspect isn’t the only thing that matters though. When deciding to plant or give flowers, their meaning is often taken into account as well as their external appearance.
The fragrance emanating from them should be a further element to be evaluated in these cases. In fact, the sensations that perfumes are able to create can be very strong and important. For those who are not very experienced, here are the most fragrant flowers in the world.
Top of the class
The flower par excellence, the most fragrant of all, is certainly the rose. This flower is capable of adapting to any situation. In fact, it can be found in parks and gardens, on balconies and terraces, but also in houses and apartments.
Among the most fragrant flowers in the world, plumeria also stands out. This particular flower comes from the Caribbean, so it needs to be grown in warm places. If the outside temperature is not favorable, it is still possible to plant it in pots and keep it indoors.
Lavender also has an intense unmistakable scent. The same goes for its cousin daphne odorosa, or oriental lavender. Very often these fragrances are used for the preparation of cosmetics and household cleaners.
The fragrant osmanthus can boast of a name that is in itself a guarantee. Although it is not well known in Italy, it still deserves the merit of being among the most fragrant flowers in the world.
Calicanthus is another very fragrant flower. Unlike the others, calicanthus blooms in winter and it is therefore possible to be inebriated by its smell in the coldest months of the year, between January and March.
Flowers not to be underestimated
The list of beautiful, but above all fragrant flowers does not end there. In fact, brugmansia, for example, is another very fragrant flower specimen. Its aroma is reminiscent of citrus fruits and gives its best in the evening.
The widespread flowers of gardenia and jasmine also fall into this list by right. They are both summer flowers and with their intense scent they manage to bring us right back there, in those long summer evenings.
Finally, the unmistakable flowers of the begonia give off a delicious scent as well as those of the gladiolus. The latter is often used for flower arrangements and to decorate flower beds and gardens.
Perhaps it is not really possible to draw up an objective list, but here are the most fragrant flowers in the world in our opinion.
