«From tomorrow, Saturday 12 June, according to the provisions of the Scientific Technical Committee, the second doses to people over 60 vaccinated with Astrazeneca will be made with the same vaccine. The recalls of people under 60 vaccinated in the first dose with Astrazeneca will instead be carried out with another vaccine “.
The Welfare DG of the Lombardy Region communicates this in a Note, recalling that the vaccination of the Lombards, especially young people, continues successfully.
The Note also specifies that only Pfizer is used today for 12-17 year olds; for 18/49 years Pfizer or Moderna; for 50/59 year olds Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson; for those over 60 Astrazeneca or J&J; for the fragile Pfizer or Moderna.
“All vaccines – concludes the Note – are validated by Ema and Aifa and are safe”.
«Already today – explains the socio-health director of the Asst Valle Olona Marino Dell’Acqua – we instructed the operators to explain the situation of the imminent decision of the CTS, giving the people called for the reminders to choose whether to postpone pending clarification. At the moment we do not have second doses with Astrazeneca at the Malpensafiere hub but we supply vaccines to Mater Domini in Castellanza where the calls for the world of school are concentrated. The operators took note of the people who preferred to wait in order to be able to call them back ».
These days they are being recalled with Astrazeneca teachers and volunteers who had taken the first dose last March. Also during that campaign, the Astrazeneca vaccine was temporarily suspended pending a further pronouncement by the EMA. The decision then led to a change in vaccination policy, preferring to administer the vaccine to the elderly population, preferably from 60 years.
