Genoa. She was one of the many young people to have joined the open day launched by Regione and Alisa for all age groups who voluntarily chose to undergo vaccination with “cold” drugs: Astrazeneca and Johnson & Johnson. We are talking about almost 40 thousand under 60s who have decided to go beyond what is only a recommendation from Aifa and Ema, the Italian and European drug agencies, in order to have at least one dose of vaccine as soon as possible.

But today Alisa and the Liguria Region report the case of an 18-year-old patient, residing in the Sestri Levante area, hospitalized in the neurosurgery department of the San Martino hospital with a diagnosis of cavernous sinus thrombosis, awaiting evaluation for surgery.

The young woman was voluntarily vaccinated on May 25, 2021 in the local health authority, ASL 4, with the AstraZeneca vaccine. Like anyone, she had made a quick medical history with the doctors of the vaccination center and it was negative.

On June 3, the 18-year-old went to the emergency room with headache and photophobia, headache and discomfort to observe the light. She was then subjected to various tests: brain CT scan and neurological examination, both negative. She is discharged with the recommendation to repeat the blood tests after 15 days.

On 5 June he returned to the emergency room with motor deficit to an emilate. Subjected to cerebral CT with hemorrhagic outcome, she was immediately transferred to the Neurosurgery of San Martino.
