Rendering of the Romeo Project
The Board of Directors of Catullo approved the award to the Temporary Grouping of Companies consisting of Itinera, Leonardo and Euroimpianti of the contract for the extension of the passenger terminal (Romeo Project) of Verona airport and at the same time started all the preparatory works for the construction of the work which will start in July. The total amount of the works is 68 million euros and the completion is expected by 2024. The Romeo Project foresees the redevelopment and expansion of the departures terminal, the surface of which will increase from the current 24,840 square meters to 36,370 square meters, to which will be added the renovation of over 10,000 square meters of existing areas.
“The new infrastructure”, explains a note, “will be built with a view to environmental sustainability, high maintainability and energy saving, and will be characterized by an overall renewed image of the terminal both for the architectural aspects and for those relating to the spaces. commercial companies that will expand their offer ». The main interventions include: the architectural redevelopment of the check-in hall, where the reception desks will increase from the current 40 to 46, including self check-in and self baggage drop stations; the construction of new boarding areas on the first floor with new boarding towers; the boarding gates will change from the current 13 to 19; the creation of a new BHS system (baggage handling system); the construction of new security checks on the first floor.
