Two years later, here we are. Meanwhile, between the world premiere and the next moment of delivery, Bugatti The Black Car (read the article here) had the time to also win a prize at the Concorso d’Eleganza of Villa d’Este, as well as bring the development phase to a conclusion. Two years to develop a unique piece, which will end up in the collection of a wealthy client, willing to pour 11 million euros, plus taxes.
The owner, Ronaldo or a prince
What the name of the lucky owner could be is, as often happens on extraordinary one-offs, a mystery: at least officially. The rumors, after having indicated on the occasion of the presentation the name of Ferdinand Piech, who passed away in 2019, a few months after the presentation at the Geneva Motor Show of La Voiture Noire, have relaunched other illustrious characters.
Cristiano Ronaldo among them, in addition to the Saudi Bader Bin Farhan Alsaud. Assuming it does not remain a museum exemplar and travels a few kilometers in the real world, in the next few months we could find the Bugatti La Voiture Noire around the globe. Certainly it will not go unnoticed.
L’antenata Type 57 SC Atlantic
It will not do so for the bodywork work carried out in Molsheim, where the idea of a La Voiture Noire that harks back to Jean Bugatti’s ancestor, at the beginning of the twentieth century, flashed 20 years ago to the director of design Achim Anscheidt. The project has the solutions of the stylistic cleanliness typical of grand tourers, The wheelbase lengthened compared to a “common” Veyron, the body surfaces – entirely in carbon fiber – treated with a transparent Black Carbon Glossy to reduce light reflections and enhance the fluidity of the lines.
No rear aerodynamic appendages, the dorsal element in billet aluminum that runs along the front bonnet, roof and tail, one of the references to the Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic, exemplary – out of four products – driven by Jean Bugatti, son of Ettore, and renamed La Voiture Noire.
Craftsmanship and hi-tech
Extreme craftsmanship is in solutions such as 25 lighting points for each headlight, hand-milled and one-to-one elements. Again, it is in the realization of the rear wave, a single element without any junction points for what represents the unique “lighthouse”. Inspirations from the past, for soft and enveloping shapes, e high technology, in the lights, in the materials, in the grille made with 3D printing. Inside, then upholstery all in full-grain Havana Brown leather, alternated with inserts in billet aluminum.
“The Voiture Noire is the ultimate dream car for long distances, like driving from Molsheim to Milan. The combination of perfect beauty and a powerful engine culminates in this one-off as a declaration of love for the automobile”, Spiegel Anscheidt.
