Night of reservations on portals with lots of (virtual) queues to grab the first useful appointment hoping not to have the call back in the central days of August (big risk if you book the first dose with AstraZeneca now). Day of administration, even with the open days – which take place without reservations – organized in different regions with more than a few queues and discontent due to a demand that is clearly higher than the supply of preparations. Yesterday at about 11 pm most of the regions opened the adhesions to the vaccination campaign at (almost) all ages. Only the 12-15 year old group remains blocked in most of Italy, which has just received the AIFA’s approval for the administration of Pfizer.
At the moment only Lombardy, Veneto, Campania and Calabria they also allow reservations for children between 12 and 15 years old. The others go in no particular order, also due to the complexity of addressing them to the only vaccine currently admitted, namely the German-American one.
The Lazio will involve pediatricians in the coverage by admission of the councilor for health Alessio D’Amato.
The Piedmontallows bookings over 18 years. Liguria also.
The Friuli-Venezia Giulia will open to all groups in a few days, including twelve-year-olds.
L’Emilia-Romagna from 18 June to everyone, while it has decided to stagger the adhesions every two days (7-8 June for the age group 12-19; 9-10 June 35-39 years; 11-13 June 30-34 years; 14-15 June 25-29 years; 16-18 June 20-24 years).
The Tuscany opens to the 16-29 age group from 7 June but not yet to the 12-15 age group.
L’Abruzzo clears customs for bookings from today for ages 16 and up.
Molise starts today the adhesions for the decade 30-39, on Saturday the one between 20 and 29. To follow from 12 upwards.
The Puglia now allows reservations for under 40s and is also said to be ready for vaccination between the ages of 12 and 15 without specifying when.
In Sicily from today reservations for ages 16 and up, in Sardinia from tomorrow.
It is time for the massive campaign. Today theoretically they would start even companies. But it will take a few days to sort the supplies of vaccines from the local health authorities to the companies that have joined and that have arranged the vaccination hubs with the presence of company doctors. This is an additional channel that has yet to be tested even though some companies, such as Reale Mutua, have started for a while. Yesterday a maxi-load of Pfizer arrived, 3.5 million doses, destined to support the campaign for at least the next two weeks. Another 2.5 million vaccines are expected this week in Pratica di Mare. Yesterday 370,000 doses of J & J arrived, today it is the turn of over 1.7 million AstraZeneca and tomorrow almost 400,000 of Moderna. By June another 17.5 million, for a total of 20 million. More than May, when Italy received 17 million doses. These are also the days of the launch of the campaign in pharmacies. Most are using J&J with the help of pharmacists who have taken courses at the Higher Institute of Health.
Covid vaccine, things to know
Coverage of over 60s is also improving. Tomorrow the commissioner structure, led by General Francesco Figliuolo, will publish the report of the last week. It will be a test on the trend among the most at risk. Yesterday 2,897 new Covid cases and 62 deaths. There are 933 patients in intensive care.
