EV6 GT, Kia’s electric faster than Ferrari and Lamborghini

The Kia name is usually associated with small cars or SUVs of course they have nothing to do with Ferrari and Lamborghini, two historic and appreciated Motor Valley builders famous for the production of four-wheeled racing cars from the most disparate performances. In the electrification sector, however, really anything can happen, like acceleration races made for remark the performance of the greener cars.

In this regard, to demonstrate the potential of EV6 GT, Kia organized a drag race with a almost unexpected ending. As we know, EV6 will be available soon in three versions with powers included between 170 and 585 hp; and it is the latter who took part in the test. The 585 hp and 740 Nm variant will be available exclusively on board the EV6 GT, the most “peppery” version of the house and will be able to cover the 0 to 100 in 3.5 seconds: a supercar value!

With the acceleration race, Kia has decided to move from theory to practice and has added to its model cars proposed by Lamborghini, Mercedes, Porsche, Ferrari and McLaren. In all honesty we do not know what is the criterion for choosing the models selected as the manufacturer has not opted for the most performing variants available; for example, the sporty SUV was chosen with Lamborghini Manage while for Ferrari a “dated” California T (which as we know has been replaced by the Portofino). Perhaps, the manufacturer has selected supercars with similar performance just to underline once again the electric shot.

  • Lamborghini Urus
  • Mercedes AMG GT
  • McLaren 570S
  • Porsche 911 Targa 4
  • Ferrari California T

The video highlights it searing snap of the EV6 GT, capable of detaching all the opponents in a few meters. In progression, once a certain speed is reached, is picked up by the McLaren 570S which ends the race in first position.

To make the difference for the Korean sedan, in addition to the high torque available immediately, it was certainly also the four-wheel drive than generally improves performance in standing starts. Only when the price of the EV6 GT is announced will we be able to understand what its direct rivals may be, even if it is foreseeable that it may fit between the current Audi e-Tron GT and Porsche Taycan.
