As part of the project for the Italian smaller islands, Covid free administered in three days 4252 doses
LA MADDALENA. The anti-Covid vaccination campaign on the population of La Maddalena ended on Sunday afternoon 16 May. In three days 4,252 doses were inoculated, in addition to the 3,150 already administered to the inhabitants of the island before 14 May. In total, 7,402 residents, aged 16 and over, have received the first dose of the vaccine, about 80% of the vaccinable population.
During the three days dedicated to immunization, 405 doses of the Janssen, Johnson & Johnson single-dose serum were inoculated on the island, thus bringing to 1,705 the number of Maddalena who completed the entire vaccination cycle. From Friday to Sunday 3,131 doses were administered in the Hub set up in the former Arsenal structure and 1,121 in the vaccination center in the gymnasium of the Navy NCO School.
The vaccination campaign in La Maddalena is part of the agreement between the Regions and the commissioner for the Covid emergency, for the mass immunization of the population of the smaller islands, and its implementation was possible thanks to the collaboration between the Sardinia Region, with the Ats, the Municipality, the Army, the Navy and the voluntary associations. The campaign for the smaller islands will continue in Carloforte over the next weekend. Then, it will be the turn of Sant’Antioco and Calasetta.
