These pieces of code will therefore form the basis for the applications that will be, and will shorten programming times because it will no longer be necessary to generate code from scratch, but the one made available by INPS can be used.
Mobile access via SPID is now open source
Specifically, starting from March 31st, INPS has entrusted open source the software libraries for iOS and Android relating to the SPID, i.e. the Public Digital Identity System.
In this way, all Public Administrations (PA) and private entities adhering to the system who want to integrate the digital recognition system into their mobile apps will have a facility, because the libraries will be easily available, but also further developable.
Looking at them even more closely, there are two libraries, they can be found on the INPS GitHub page (which seems to have been created for the occasion three days ago) and are SDKs that allow login via SPID through different identity providers.
However, INPS has no intention of stopping at SPID libraries, because open source will be part of the institute’s strategic plan for information and communication technologies, which embraces the broader European Next Generation EU strategy born for the post-COVID-19 European relaunch.
