A 69-year-old lady booked on a flight from Palermo to Bologna missed the plane and ended up in Wroclaw, Poland. No one, evidently, had checked her boarding pass. It happened on Wednesday: the old woman, deaf and dumb, had to get on a Ryanair flight to Punta Raisi for the Emilian capital departing at 10 pm. The incredible story, told by Rest of the Carlino, was denounced by the grandchildren of the lady who had not seen arriving.

According to the family, it was only upon her arrival in Poland that the lady, originally from Alcamo, in the province of Trapani, and living in Ferrara, noticed the mistake: she tried to explain the situation with difficulty (her phone card was not enabled abroad) and a passenger helped her, along with a cleaner. She got in touch with the Italian consulate in Poland and with her relatives. She then returned to Italy with a flight from Krakow.

In a note, Gesap, the Palermo airport management company, makes it known that it has asked the managers of the airline and of the company that carries out the boarding services at the gates and assistance to disabled passengers on its behalf, “a detailed report on the affair “. On Monday, during the airport safety committee, Gesap will give “particular attention to this case” to inform ENAC (National Civil Aviation Authority) which will have to decide on possible measures.

“What happened – underlines the management company of Falcone and Borsellino – remains, in any case, an inadmissible fact, for which, in the name of the entire airport, we would like to offer the most heartfelt apologies to the passenger”.
