What happens on November 15th 2021 with the switch off to DVB-T2?

Filed the first step of the switch off to DVB-T2, with the entry into force of the MPEG-4 encoding, now it’s time to look at the second deadline of the road map prepared by the Ministry of Economic Development: November 15, 2021. But be careful: in this case it is not a step that applies to the whole territory.

The November 15, 2021, in Sardinia, the process of releasing the 700 band will begin by TV to make it available to telephone operators.

The MISE has prepared some specific dates for each territory belonging to Area 1A:

  • 15 – 17 November: Iglesiente
  • November 16: Sulcis
  • November 18: Metropolitan city of Cagliari, Gerrei and Marmilla
  • November 19: Oristano and its province
  • November 22: Barbagia
  • 23 – 24 November: Sassari and part of the province
  • 25 – 26 November: Gallura
  • 29 – 30 November: Nuoro and part of the province
  • 1 December: Ogliastra
  • 2 December: Sarrabus and Ogliastra part

During this time, it will be necessary to retune the equipment to lock in the new frequencies and avoid losing the signal.

The MISE highlights that the specific dates relating to the redistribution of frequencies in the individual municipalities will be communicated over the next few weeks.

“In the event that problems arise in viewing the channels following the refarming operations, it is always advisable to retune them to match the new frequencies”, reads the official documentation.

For the list of municipalities in which the switch off to MPEG-4 will take place late, however, we refer you to our in-depth analysis.
