The news came suddenly, surprising even the markets. Burgo Group yesterday announced the sale of its historic paper mill in Verzuolo to the Irish of Smurfit Kappa, a company listed on the London Stock Exchange. The purchase price was set at 360 million euros.
Last year the Burgo di Verzuolo plant, controlled by the Holding Gruppo Marchi and QuattroR, had completed the conversion of the paper mill and of the «PM9» line («Linea nona») from coated paper to cardboard for packaging.
