Sailogy, the strength of the algorithm, also for ultra-luxury
Are holidays at sea, thanks to the pandemic, back in fashion? It would seem so, at least judging by the turmoil that can be seen on the main digital booking platforms for boats, yachts and sailing ships, which are enriched, even in complicated years, with new experiences to try. As long as you have a strong propensity for sailing holidays.
Sailogy, one of the largest boat booking sites, based in Italy, Switzerland and Germany, expects, despite the very low bookings in the first quarter, to reach the results of 2019: “We expect to close the year with a turnover of about 20 million euros – comments the founder and CEO Manlio Accardo – it is no longer possible to seasonally adjust and bookings are concentrated from July onwards, months in which we are about to end the offer. Furthermore, the number of boats available has been reduced for two reasons: some charter companies have gone bankrupt and the production of new boats has dropped. Until 2020 we had 22,000, now they are about 20,000 ”. The company, which has grown in a few years also thanks to parallel business acquisitions, is also focusing on sales through travel agencies and on the opening of new markets, in particular France and the United States, by 2022.
The heart of Sailogy’s innovation in the creation of a proprietary algorithm, which allows even newbies to the sector to select and book a boat in real time, because it is able to show only the solutions actually available, with constantly updated prices and discounts. This year the platform also offers the ultra-luxury “Sailogy Premiere” proposals: the cost can reach up to 200 thousand euros for a week, for boats that can reach 40-50 meters.
