The Kia EV6, the future zero-emission crossover of the Korean house, challenges the most popular supercars in a drag race. And the result is not so obvious … The price of the electric (69,500 euros) is much lower than those of the other prestigious cars in competition
The Kia EV6 is the new electric crossover of the Korean house that shares the same E-Gmp platform (Electric-Global Modular Platform) with its “sister” Hyundai Ioniq 5. The polarizing aesthetic is characterized by some stylistic charms such as the “Digital Tiger Face ”, visible in the front, and the low air intake has been designed to optimize airflow. This novelty conquers for its dynamic style, which reflects very interesting performances: here it is in an acceleration challenge against the fastest supercars on the market.
In Italy it starts from 49,500 euros
The house, after the official presentation of the crossover, has made prices available. In Italy it starts from 49,500 euros; Reservations are open and the first deliveries are expected in September 2021. 61,000 euros are needed for the GT-Line and 69,500 euros for the GT. The latter can count on two electric motors with a total power of 585 hp and 740 Nm of torque, which give it a shot from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds against 5.2 seconds in the Long Range. 4×4 and 6.2 seconds of the Standard Range. To power the two electric motors we find a 77.4 kWh battery (autonomy has not yet been declared). The GT also features an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, which ensures burning starts without spinning the wheels. Being the “sister” of the Ioniq 5, there is no lack of 800 volt architecture that allows you to go from 10% to 80% of capacity in 18 minutes (4.5 minutes are enough to recover 100 km of autonomy).
The drag race against supercars
As we know, electric cars are known for the searing shot. And it is precisely this peculiarity that allows the EVs to compete on equal terms, and often beat, the most popular supercars. The Korean manufacturer, taking advantage of the wave of success of the World Premiere, has published a video where the EV6 GT challenges the Lamborghini Urus, the Ferrari California T, the Porsche 911, the McLaren 570S and the Mercedes-Amg GT in a drag race. all supercars that have an average power of around 550 hp.
