Despite Covid and the trips that are struggling to resume, this year too the site AirlineRatings has published the ranking of the best airlines in the world.
As per tradition, the “Airline Excellence Awards”, a list that, unlike other very similar rankings, is considered among the most reliable, since it is drawn up starting from the documents on the safety of governments and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the United Nations agency that deals with the safety of air flights.
And in this regard, the experts of AirlineRatings analyzed the performance of hundreds of carriers, based on criteria ranging from the years of the fleet to the number of accidents, from passenger assessments to the response they gave in terms of Covid-19 and the measures adopted. But let’s find out together the ranking of the best airlines of 2021.
In tenth place we find British Airways, the flag carrier airline of the United Kingdom. EVA Air, a Taiwanese private airline, is in ninth position. Eighth in this ranking is the US United Airlines, while the seventh position is occupied by Virgin Atlantic, British airline. Going up to sixth place we find Cathay Pacific, the national airline of Hong Kong and Emirates, the national airline of the Arab Emirate of Dubai. In fourth place, however, is Qantas, the flag carrier of Australia.
The following carriers were on the podium: bronze medal for Singapore Airlines which in recent days has also resumed flights from Rome Fiumicino to Singapore. A nice silver, on the other hand, wins it Air New Zealand, which has remained at the top of AirlineRatings’ rankings for six consecutive years. The flag carrier of New Zealand won in the categories “Best Long-Haul Airline in the Pacific”, “Best Premium Economy” and “Best Economy”.
Finally, the novelty this year is that the best airline in the world is Qatar Airways, who climbed the rankings by beating the winner of the last six years.
A very important recognition since, to weigh on the final judgment, it was above all the high safety standards against Covid-19 of the national airline of Qatar, much appreciated by passengers. Indeed, despite the measures taken to combat the pandemic, travel bans and the closure of borders, Qatar Airways has never stopped flying.
