A qualitative leap for the Polesine and a hope for a territory where there are historically no large production companies. In 2023 the largest malt shop in Italy will be built in Loreo, capable of producing 40,000 tons of beer malt per year, equal to 20 per cent of the national needs. Between direct and indirect, there are over 100 people who will be employed. An investment of about 25 million euros, with a further 10 for the related activities, which will involve 800 to 1000 farms that will be able to enhance their production.

The plant will have a high degree of automation and eco-sustainability: it will only use electricity from cogeneration and 100 percent of the heat deriving from the process.

In the report by Giorgio Bonomi, edited by Davide Baldo, the interviews with Moreno Gasparini, mayor of Loreo (RO); Giovanni Toffoli, managing director of malting
