(Teleborsa) – The German biotechnology company BioNTech and the German electronics and mechanical giant Siemens they intend to step up their collaboration for increase the production of the Covid-19 vaccine. BioNTech intends to replicate what it put in place at the Marburg plant: at the German site it converted an existing plant into a vaccine manufacturing plant with support from Siemens in just five months. According to the agreements, Siemens will provide the latest automation and digitization technologies for BioNTech manufacturing sites, such as design, simulation and engineering software, as well as process control technology.
“Our technologies and long-standing experience have helped them convert their manufacturing facility in just five months instead of a year – said Cedrik Neike, member of the Siemens board – Now we want transfer this success to other production sites in order to make Covid-19 vaccines available as quickly as possible around the world ”.
