You remember l’Honda Monkey? Born at the beginning of the 60s, the “mini” Honda, after many versions, has recently returned to the European limelight with the 2018 model, which with its retro charm but modern substance conquered us within a few kilometers. Such an icon certainly could not go back into oblivion, so Honda updated it to the Euro-5 standard as soon as possible.
The update comes thanks to the new engine already installed on the 2021 model of the MSX GROM, in fact already of its modern spiritual heir of the Monkey itself. In fact unchanged in the chassis and in the equipment – already deeply updated with the 2018 version – the Monkey 2022 is equipped with a single-cylinder four-stroke engine with two-valve distribution per cylinder of 125 cc capable of 9.4 horsepower at 6,750 rpm and 11 Nm at 5,500 rpm.
Thanks to various updates to the intake and exhaust, the engine offers more sustained torque throughout the delivery range: thanks to the adoption of a new catalyst, more compact and efficient, it manages to bring the engine back into the required parameters. from the Euro-5 without penalizing performance, which indeed becomes even more brilliant.
Consumption is also excellent, as per tradition: the declared value for the WMTC cycle is 66.7 km/l thanks to all the engine optimization interventions aimed at reducing internal friction.
The new Honda Monkey 125 YM2022 is available in Italy in three color variants:
- Banana Yellow
- Pearl Nebula Red
- Pearl Glittering Blue
