Italy will play against Austria in the round of 16 of the European Football Championships

Austria beat Ukraine 1-0 on the last day of Group C and qualified from second in their group to the round of 16, which will then play against Italy on Saturday 26 June at the Wembley stadium in London (9 pm ). Ukraine coached by Andriy Shevchenko were favorites for second place, but in the direct clash in Bucharest they conceded a goal after twenty minutes of play by Christoph Baumgartner and could no longer react.

Austria is coached by Franco Foda, a former footballer with a German mother and an Italian father. The captain is David Alaba, who after playing with Bayern Munich for thirteen years, will play in Spain with Real Madrid next season. The center forward is Marko Arnautovic, at Inter between 2009 and 2010. The last meeting between Italy and Austria dates back to August 2008, a friendly match played in Nice and ended 2-2.
