ROME STADIUM – While the Tor di Valle project may be definitively wrecked by the end of the month, the Roma continues to study the area of the new facility, which must be sustainable, with low costs of public works and which meets the needs of the fans.

There is a “short list” of potential locations that Rome is examining as a site for the stadium owned: according to reports from Il Tempo, they are Gazometro, Teano, Velodromo e Sdo Pietralata. None of these are perfect, without problems and this makes the exam in progress just a preliminary “grooming”. For what concern Gazometro, the area appeals to Friedkin and it is jointly owned – Eni, Italgas and Acea – of just enough size to accommodate the Stadium with the prefiltration area and nothing else. Value: it is practically on the edge of the center and has a substantial supply of mobility infrastructures (two metro B stations, Garbatella and Piramide, the Roma-Lido terminus, two railway stations, Ostiense and Trastevere). Defects: parking spaces are lacking and the private traffic load is now unsustainable with a match. The solution could be twofold: make an “English” stadium accessible only (or almost) by public transport and, except for the parking spaces for the handicapped and the authorities, create a few (and expensive) car parks in the opposite area of the Markets General. The constraints problem still needs to be analyzed: the large gas meter is included in the quality charter. Similar situation for thesdo Pietralata: ok public transport, but difficult to think of moving all the fans only with those. Teano, Prenestina-Tor de Schiavi area: the advantage of metro C and the Casilina train plus the Prenestina tram, but the problem is the archaeological risk that has already emerged throughout the area during the works for metro C. Finally, the Velodrome is the least attractive area due to the few infrastructures and an area just sufficient to build the plant. From this list the areas leave and enter very quickly also because Rome does not intend to initiate technical discussions with the Municipality without first Tor di Valle has been revoked.
