About 100 square meters of the Parco degli Acquedotti closed to the passage, Friday morning, due to the presence of a large swarm of bees perched on a tree. The agents of the VII “Tuscolano” Group of the Roma Capitale Local Police intervened after reporting some park visitors, worried about the presence of the swarm. A beekeeper was then called for the recovery, a procedure foreseen during the swarming period.
The white helmets have taken steps to circumscribe the area, preventing access to pedestrians and cyclists, to prevent them from running into the swarm. The beekeeper then recovered the bees by transferring them to the hives. May and June are the months in which the phenomenon of “swarming” is recorded, and it is common to spot swarms of bees covering trees, hedges and even balconies on the journey undertaken to form a new colony with the queen bee.
