Strip the News uncovered a disturbing case concerning theRevenue Agency. “According to the measures taken to deal with the economic crisis due to Covid – began the satirical news program created by Antonio Ricci and broadcast every day on Canale 5 – the tax bills should be frozen. One of our reporter, however, wrote to us because despite this the Revenue Agency has continued to withdraw the money owed on the basis of the repayments of the debt”.

It was to investigate the question Riccardo Trombetta, who showed the documents showing how the payments actually happened, when they should have been surprised. Although the Dpcm provides for the suspension until 30 April, the Revenue Agency continued to withdraw the installments from the current account of the reporter: once contacted, the Agency seemed to fall out of favor and defined the case as unique in Italy. “I was contacted by an official who said it was the bank’s fault and not them – said Trombetta – and that he would call me back after a week. They disappeared into thin air”.

The correspondent of Strip also heard Gianluca Timpone, accountant: “The agency could not possibly withdraw those sums because from March 8, 2020 until April 31, 2021, payments of all expiring tax bills are suspended, including installment plans. In reality, the bank does nothing autonomously because it only follows the instructions of the creditor. So in this case the Agency simply communicated to the bank to continue to make the related charges regarding the granted installment plans. We must ask for the repayment of the installments paid up to now “.
