Milan between 2015, the year of Expo Milan, and 2019 has climbed all the tourism rankings becoming the second Italian destination in terms of turnover behind only Rome (which is seven times the size of Milan as well as being the capital of both our state that of the Catholic Church). Milan has become the favorite international destination of a wealthy international tourism that in the Lombard capital finds contemporary urban excellence in the name of the formidable skyscrapers that characterize its skyline, finds five university centers known all over the world, attracts lovers of art, design, sport, fashion, trade fairs (…) Milan has the best public transport system in Italy and among the best in Europe. Milan and the Lombard Valtellina will also be protagonists, together with the Venetian Cortina d’Ampezzo, of the 2026 Winter Olympics. The pandemic has blocked this triumphal march, postponing the resumption of national and international tourist flows to next year. In the meantime, the construction sites for new superior category hotels (4 and 5 stars) and for the renovation of the existing ones have taken advantage of the forced break to work at full speed so that when the pandemic is over, Milan resumes running with the pace , sometimes a bit mad, which made the Milanese famous all over the world. These are the major international hotel brands, which have invested and are investing in the city, the best demonstration of how important Milan is in the international world of tourism which, after the unexpected shutdown of 2020 and 2021, will restart with renewed energy.
