Milan, the united opposition: Sala clarifies on the rotation of the police chief

The councilors of the center-right opposition to the Municipality of Milan (Lega, FdI, Forza Italia, Milano Popolare and Polo for Lombardy) ask for “an extraordinary municipal council” in which the mayor Giuseppe Sala clarifies the matter “of the resignation of the police commander local Antonio Barbato and the selection and appointment of the new commander in the person of Marco Ciacci ”, a policeman then serving at the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office. The request comes after the service of the transmission “Le Iene” aired last night and focused on a long interview with Barbato who resigned in August 2017 after being involved in an investigation by the DDA of the Lombard capital, for which he had been heard by the magistrates. “The center-right opposition offers a great opportunity to Sala to clarify his position with respect to the story of the replacement of the former commander”, summed up in a note the city councilor of FdI (as well as Lombardy regional councilor for security), Riccardo De Corato, explaining that “the alternation of the commander of the Milan local police is always a delicate step, but if Mayor Sala has no doubts about the methods adopted, he should calmly go to the City Council to clarify his position and that of the Executive. There can be no such shadows on the Municipality and on the local police of Milan ”.
