She had one hundred thousand euros in undeclared cash hidden in a suitcase, but it was blocked and discovered. Controls of illicit trafficking at the port by the officials of the Customs Agency and monopolies in service at the Civitavecchia office continue, in collaboration with the local company of the Guardia di Finanza. This time, with the intensification of travel abroad by sea, the vehicles and passengers of the Civitavecchia-Tunis route were sifted with a view to intercepting the illegal export of currency abroad.
A Tunisian citizen, for years residing in the province of Rome and about to temporarily leave Italy, ended up in the meshes of the controls who, when asked if she had currency to declare, replied in the negative. However, the excessive nervousness manifested led the officials to a thorough inspection of the woman’s luggage.
And so the agents discovered everything: in a suitcase, cleverly concealed, several bundles of banknotes wrapped in women’s stockings were found, for a total amount of over 100 thousand euros, now subject to seizure.
