There are 320 new Covid19 positives recorded in Sicily in the last 24 hours, out of 14,908 swabs processed, with an incidence just over 21.1%. Our region, after the record obtained yesterday 8 June, today stands in second place in Italy for the number of daily infections behind Lombardy. There were 2 victims and the total rose to 5,890. The number of current positives is 7,322 with a decrease of 384 cases after the slight increase limited to yesterday. There are 702 recovered. In hospitals there are 404 patients, 6 fewer than yesterday, those in intensive care are 39, three fewer than in the previous bulletin. As regards the distribution in the various provinces, after a few days of growth in numbers, Catania stands at 66 new cases, surpassed by Palermo with 68 cases. Then there are Messina with 21 new cases, Syracuse 28, Trapani 16, Ragusa 34, Agrigento 21, Caltanissetta 8, Enna 58.
Vaccines: open days are back
The “Open Doors” initiative is back in Sicily. From tomorrow (Thursday 10) to Sunday 13 June, citizens aged 18 and over, who are not frail, will be able to get vaccinated on a voluntary basis at the provincial vaccination hubs even without a reservation. The vaccines dedicated to the initiative will be Vaxzevria from AstraZeneca and Janssen from Johnson & Johnson. The initiative starts with a provision of the president of the Nello Musumeci Region to further accelerate the immunization campaign, which is proceeding quickly throughout the island and records a constantly growing trend. In the period between 1 and 6 June, in fact, almost 287 thousand administrations were carried out, every day exceeding the target assigned to Sicily by the national commissioner.
