For some time now, one of the most popular MotoGP catchphrases has been the retirement of Valentino Rossi (here his words after the Catalan GP). This year the man from Pesaro has blown out 42 candles, every year his time to hang up his helmet is getting closer, but the newspaper “El Periodico de Catalunya” even insinuated that the Doctor may not even finish the current season. According to them, the retirement would take place after the Dutch Grand Prix, on June 27, before the summer break.
Over the years there have been several speculations about Valentino Rossi’s retirement and that of the Catalan newspaper arrives at one of the most difficult moments in the career of the driver from Tavullia. After the first seven races, in fact, he totaled only 15 points, scoring points on three occasions. The situation is very serious, but that Rossi decides to retire without finishing the season seems rather unrealistic to us.
The nine-time world champion also recently said that during the summer break he will decide whether or not to continue in 2022. Despite the difficulties, Rossi and his crew have always shown that they remain united in the search for the solution that will make him return to the front. It is true, there are many opponents, and they are also increasingly young, but if he really decides to retire Rossi will do so by taking the decision with a cold head, analyzing all the details of the case.
Let’s wait for him to say goodbye to motorcycling
For the character he has been throughout his career we can’t imagine him giving up during the current season, and so let go of the great love of his life. Indeed, we imagine that when he read the news he had a big laugh, shaking his head as if to say: “But what are they still inventing?“We are therefore waiting for him to announce the news, when he feels ready to greet the paddock as a driver. His second home, which he will find, in the future, in other guises.
