ROMA – As anticipated by CorrieredelloSport.it, Roma has announced that from 1 July Vincenzo Vergine will be the new head of the Club’s youth sector.
“The growth of the youth sector is one of the main objectives of the reorganization of the Club’s sports area: to guide it we have chosen a profile that has great experience and an extraordinary knowledge of all Italian youth football”, he has declared Tiago Pinto, General Manager of the AS Roma sports area. “Vincenzo perfectly represents the ambitious vision of the company with respect to the growth path of our children inside and outside the field: a vision that considers it essential to recreate a strong Roman and Roma identity in the nursery”.
Virgin, born in San Donaci, in the province of Brindisi, in 1968, he was in charge of the athletics area of the first team and of all the youth teams of US Lecce from 1998 to 2006. From the 2006-07 season he began his professional experience at ACF Fiorentina, first as a supervisor and then as head of the youth sector until the end of 2019.
“I am proud to be able to work in a club with an important tradition in the history of Italian youth football, which believes so deeply in the growth of its boys”, commented Vincenzo Virgin. “The desire to excel and the seriousness of the owners and management, which I thank for the opportunity they have given me, make this challenge even more exciting”.
