Last Sunday, in the Catalan Grand Prix, we were spectators of a scene that has the absurd, with Fabio Quartararo who ran the last two laps of the race with the zip of his suit unbuttoned. The reason for the incident is today a mystery, but in the meantime Alpinestars, the Italian company that produced the suit, disclosed the first information after carefully examining the suit in question.
Everything is intact
In fact, the Twitter account reads: “After the race, the Alpinestars racing development team initiated an investigation into the integrity of Fabio Quartararo’s suit and it was found that the suit was functioning normally with all zippers and closures in perfect working order and all components of the suit, including the Tech-Air airbag system, were intact and fully functional”.
There is therefore no anomaly that explains what happened to the French driver. However, the analysis did not end here: “This is only a first evaluation, to be investigated once the suit is in the Alpinestars laboratory on site, carrying out all the tests and analyzes to better understand the cause of what happened “.
Finally there was no problem with the airbag system and in fact they explained: “It did not activate during the race, it worked as expected, as there was no accident situation “.
