Thousands of websites around the world have been inaccessible for over an hour: from Kickstarter to the New York Times, through the Financial Times – just to name a few – they are down. There are several major international media sites that don’t work. When trying to load their homepage, error 503 appears, indicating that the server is unable to provide the requested content, due to failure or overload. The reason? A problem with the cloud of the Fastly provider, which stated that the incident is being resolved. Meanwhile, some previously unreachable sites are back online by switching to another Content Delivery Network (CDN). The BBC reported this, underlining how Fastly supports many websites.
