The seventh round of the MotoGP shuffled the cards, but launched an all-transapine asphyxia for the title of the premier class.
FABIO QUARTARARO: WITHOUT VOTE
Impeccable qualifications but a botched, controversial and unlucky race. But Fabio’s responsibilities (if any) are in our opinion at least divided with the Race Direction. The crux is precisely this: the control room should not share responsibilities but take them all: Quartararo was a black flag for the “rib protector” case. The risk is too high (for Fabio and consequently for his colleagues) in the event of an accident.
MIGUEL OLIVEIRA: VOTE 10
He was coming from second place at Mugello and his third victory in the MotoGP came after the successes in the second Spielberg 2020 GP and in the Gop of Portugal which closed last season. It is not enough to make him one of the candidates for the title, but to put his name on the agenda of some top teams.
JOHANN ZARCO: VOTO 9
With the Desmosedici Pramac he takes the dissatisfaction of being in front of those factories: he targets the leader Oliviera in the final but does not let himself be carried away: of course, this story of second place (four in seven races) risks turning into a boomerang. But not yet, because in the meantime the Frenchman is the only one over one hundred, in addition to his compatriot Quartararo: “grandeur” as in the premier class had never been seen before!
MARC MARQUEZ: VOTE 5
The road back to where it belongs is steeper than expected, probably. The feeling is that a year away from racing, rather than slowing him down, he put wings on the wheels of his rivals, of those who now occupy the top positions of the general. The second part of the season will emit judgments that are difficult to dispute. The same goes for VALENTINO ROSSI (he too VOTE 5). Not even the “esteem and gratitude” percentage allows him to reach sufficiency. It will be a long, difficult and, in fact, decisive summer: could the abundant month of break between Assen and Spielberg 1 hold surprises?
JOAN MIR: VOTE 7
We have already underlined it: with the “fauna” that populates the slopes this year, the consistency of performance that allowed the Catalan to be crowned champion in 2020 is not even enough to get on the podium of the general. In Barcelona, however, Mir was close to that of the GP of Catalonia, taking only ten points from FRANCESCO BAGNAIA (VOTE 6) that in the last three GPs he regularly finished behind Zarco and his teammate JACK MILLER (VOTO 6,5 for the podium “inherited” from Quartararo).
