“We are trying to understand what may have happened and what direct connections there are with the vaccine”: so said the president of the Liguria region Giovanni Toti about the girl’s case victim of a thrombosis after receiving a dose of Astrazeneca and still hospitalized in serious condition at the San Martino hospital in Genoa. the young woman, who is 18, was also operated on for “cavernous sinus thrombosis”; the vaccination dates back to 25 May, when the girl had undergone the injection during an “open day” open to the younger age groups. Neurosurgery helped remove the occlusion and decrease the pressure of internal bleeding.
The San Martino hospital has suffered the case reported to AIFA. “I think the girl has also taken other drugs that may have interacted in a very negative way with this type of vaccine – added Governor Toti -, however, any consideration seems premature to me. Aifa is working with us on pharmacovigilance, we all hope and pray that the girl will make it and on the other hand we hope to understand what exactly happened “.
Cases of thrombosis are kept under constant observation throughout Europe. According to statistics, the frequency is one case per 100,000 patients. In Europe, 223 cases out of over 30 million vaccinated were reported during the anti-Covid vaccination campaign.
