The “no” of Georginio Wijnaldum al Barcelona could prove decisive for the future of Lorenzo Pellegrini. The midfielder is under observation of the Catalan club which has now collected the refusal of the former Liverpool convinced by a top player salary bestowed by the Psg (double that offered by the Spaniards). Pellegrini, writes the newspaper AS, represents the plan B of the club of Laporta after playing a starring year in the Roma and, above all, for its contractual situation. In fact, Lorenzo’s contract will expire on 30 June 2022 and Roma has not yet entered into negotiations for the renewal.
An obvious point in favor of Barcelona because it would make the operation cheaper if the midfielder becomes the final (and real) goal of the blaugrana. His future is also linked to the arrival of Mourinho who will have to decide whether to bet on him or accept to let him go. In the meantime, James Pinto will have to wait for the end ofEuropean to start the negotiations for the renewal: Pellegrini has sent his agent to postpone any speech, because he intends to be present during the interviews for the most important contract of his career.
For the moment, his salary is self-sustaining thanks to the bonuses linked to goals, assists and appearances which then become the basis of the following year, a situation that Roma would like to heal as soon as possible also because time plays in the player’s favor.
