The way forward was indicated by the Commissioner for the Covid-19 Emergency Figliuolo and confirmed by the Minister of Health Speranza: from June 3, stop to bookings for coronavirus vaccines for age groups. The mass campaign starts. Anyone aged 12 (only with the consent of both parents) and above wants to get vaccinated, they can. The day has come, to date not all regions have adapted to the line. Also this time the administrations have moved in no particular order. Again the result was an increase in general confusion.
The regions that currently offer twelve-year-olds the opportunity to book in a “structural” way are nine (Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto, Marche, Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania and Sardinia). In three, the green light was given for sixteen year olds (South Tyrol, Puglia and Sicily). Someone has planned to open to younger people in the coming days (Liguria, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Lazio and Umbria). Someone still proceeds with the opening system by bands (Molise and Trentino). In short, the vaccination campaign in the area increasingly takes on the contours of a puzzle. An approach that may not be in line with achieving the stated goal, that is, herd immunity as early as September.
On the site dedicated to the vaccination campaign of the Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta we read that «in the first phase of the mass vaccination a certain group of citizens is booked. On the basis of the type of vaccines, the most fragile groups (by age and health conditions) are privileged. The others are subsequently involved based on the availability of vaccines envisaged at national levels ». Therefore, the “free all” is not yet foreseen. On Sunday 6 June, however, a vaccination session dedicated to young “maturands” is scheduled, with the Janssen vaccine (Johnson & Johnson). Another session is on the agenda for Saturday 12 June: also in this case the vaccine is J&J, but unlike the other it will be open to all the population registered with the Regional Health Service.
Among the categories that can join the vaccination campaign in Piedmont, and therefore can book the vaccine, there are people born before January 1, 2006, or from 12 to 15 years.
At present, 35-year-olds are given the opportunity to book the vaccine. As for audiences under this age (12-18, 30-34, 25-29, 19-24), they are in the process of being activated.
