Mancini’s Italy knocked out with the Under 20, Cangiano decides

FLORENCE – Raspadori played once with the Under 20 team and the other with the national team, Chiesa did the opposite. But their goals did not arrive and neither did Belotti and Bernardeschi’s. Sparring partner Gianmarco Cangiano, 19-year-old Neapolitan forward of Bologna, who played in Serie B last season for Ascoli, scored in their place with a shot from the very corner, with 25 appearances and one goal. Thus the defeat in Coverciano of the presumed reserves of the national team against Bollini’s Under 20 team six days after the debut in the European Championship, the morning after the 4-0 inflicted by the presumed owners against the Czech Republic, recalled a classic of Italian history: famous 2-1 by Pontedera in 1994, at the time C2 team, on Italy of Sacchi, future vice world champion in the USA, punctuated by goals from Matteo Rossi and Aglietti.

Test to bring everyone to the same level

On the technical level, the proportions must be immediately restored, beyond the previous auspiciousness and superstition: this training match on the field named after Enzo Bearzot in two twenty-minute halves – against the young blue one of the richest talents already tested, from Sebastiano Esposito on loan from Inter, just promoted to Serie A with Venice, in Salcedo, Udogie, Ranocchia, Caligara, Brescianini, Riccardi – it was mainly used to bring all 25 of the 26 players available to the same athletic level: Verratti is still in the phase of recovery, Sensi is now out for the recent injury and will be replaced by Pessina. The other anomaly was the presence among the young opponents, alternating, of Meret, Sirigu, Toloi, Emerson and precisely Raspadori and Chiesa, who helped to strengthen the Under team in the respective portions of the match in which they were used in the team. di Bollini (Chiesa also nearly reached 2-0, stopped by Sirigu), but they certainly did not climb the internal hierarchies in view of the debut with Turkey, assuming it was possible.

Canceled the equal of Di Lorenzo

Today Raspadori is the third striker behind Immobile and Belotti, Chiesa is the right wing alternative to the likely owner Berardi. In the final the referee Adalberto Fiero took over the baton of Pierluigi Collina, referee of Italy-Pontedera in 1994. Collina, in the absence of goal line technology, established that the shot of the possible 2-2 by Massaro (author of the 1-2 ), after having slapped the crossbar he had not fallen back into the door. Fiero canceled, without Var, Di Lorenzo’s equal potential: offside and 0-1 definitive. Mancini, in the interval, harangued the Azzurri with a slightly annoyed air. Vaguely, however: the appointment that counts is Friday at the Olimpico with Turkey.
