Montmelo – Positive aspect: before the final “time attack”, Marc Marquez he was third in the standings (the time had been set with new tires at the beginning of the session). Negative aspect: when you have to push hard, Marquez is still in physical difficulty.
“We entered the track without thinking about the arm, but in 2-3 points I had to adapt the position, especially at Turn 13 and 14. On the violent braking of Turn 1, on the contrary, I had no physical limitations, but when there are so many movements of the bike, I can’t control it well. But let’s say that, overall, I feel better than on Friday in Mugello ”.
Could the lack of grip help you?
It is true that, usually, with little grip we were very fast, but the other manufacturers have improved, in particular the Yamaha. Today they were the most effective and not very much: at least three tenths per lap. Power is not the most important aspect here.
How are you on tires?
I tried the soft in FP2 to see if it could be an option for the race: actually it could also be used, but I’m not sure that will be the choice. It ‘s all to be decided, at this moment I am not in the conditions to do a job of great precision: we will see on which the majority will opt. As for the front, it seems to me that the asymmetric works well.
The first Honda is tenth: it seems clear that there is a problem with the bike, beyond your physical condition: what do you think?
We are in a critical situation and right now I am not in a position to help Honda. The rivals have grown, it is certainly more difficult to fight for the win than it was in 2019: it is clear that it is significant that all the riders are suffering. But HRC is working hard.
At Mugello you talked to Doohan, what did you say?
One day maybe I’ll tell you… It was very interesting, as a student I tried to assimilate his experience, I listened to his suggestions: I think it was important.
