There are 254 new cases of Coronavirus in Sicily out of 11,716 processed swabs, the positivity index is 2.2%. This is what emerges from the bulletin of the Ministry of Health.
But the data that matters most today is that relating to the incidence that on the island it has dropped to 47 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants. It means that, barring sudden surges, Sicily on June 21 will be able to enter the white zone. In fact, to say goodbye to the yellow zone, the incidence must remain below 50 cases for three consecutive weeks. Tomorrow’s monitoring, therefore, should confirm that the island has begun its journey towards the white zone.
Today’s bulletin has similar numbers to those of yesterday when 289 new cases were recorded out of 13,571 swabs processed, with a positivity rate of 2.1%. Hospitalizations are still decreasing: 9, of which one in intensive care. The dead in the last 24 hours have been 3. 186 are, however, healed.
Sicily is the second region for new infections, but it ranks third for the number of swabs performed in the last 24 hours. Compared to Thursday of last week there are 34% fewer new cases even if it must be emphasized that tampons are also 35% less.
There are currently 8,763 Covid positives in Sicily of which 413 hospitalized, 46 in intensive care, 8,304 in home isolation. The healed rose to 212,057 and deaths to 5,858. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 226,678 people have been infected in our region.
At the provincial level, Catania always has the highest number of new cases, even if down compared to the last few days. In the province of Etna there are in fact 71 new positives, in Palermo 47, in Messina 4, in Syracuse 26, in Trapani 37, in Ragusa 53, in Agrigento 1, in Caltanissetta 5 and in Enna 10.
Nationally, 1,968 new positives in the last 24 hours (down from 2,897 yesterday) out of 97,633 processed swabs, with a positivity index of 2%. There are 59 deaths from Covid (yesterday there were 62).
