THE NEW SMALL – It now seems certain that Volvo is working on a new compact model, which, in the range, can be placed below the torque XC40 e C40. You should call Volvo XC30 (or XC20) and it will be a one size SUV compact proposed only with electric motor, so it will compete with cars like Opel Mokka-e and Peugeot e-2008. This is another fundamental step in the manufacturer’s strategy, which aims to propose, by 2030, only electric cars.
AN ADVANCED PLATFORM – The Volvo XC30, whose length is assumed to be around 430 cm, should be based on the platform Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA, visible in the pictures) developed by the Geely group, of which Volvo is a part, for use in several future models. Presented in September 2020, the SEA is a very evolved and versatile skeleton since it can be the basis for cars with a wheelbase between 180 and 330 cm. The Geely group declares that the SEA batteries do not degrade up to 200,000 km and can ensure a range of up to 700 km in the most capacious versions: in the case of the Volvo XC30 we could expect between 300 and 400 km. There will be updates via the internet (the so-called OTAs) both for the multimedia system and for the software of the car, capable of improving its characteristics and autonomy.
