The concession of the eight people at the table for the indoor restaurants seemed to be a done deal. And instead, not only did the executive chaired by the official not arrive Mario Draghi, but apparently everything has been called into question. Government sources had leaked the ok to the proposal of the Regions, who want to raise the maximum number of people at the table indoors to 8, removing the limit outdoors.
Obviously this concession would be limited to white areas: by 21 June – the date on which the curfew will finally be abolished – practically all Italian regions would fall into this band, except for the Aosta Valley. Ministerial sources however, they let Ansa know that, after a confrontation with the governors, the limit would be lowered from eight to six people per table: this would be the point of fall on which it would be converging in these hours, as evidence that by now the ridicule has been surpassed by a lot. There is probably a hand of Roberto Speranza behind all this, whose line of caution is becoming cloying in light of the real epidemiological situation and the progress of the vaccination campaign.
Tomorrow, Friday 4 May, an order from the Minister of Health is expected to define the rules for catering: barring further twists and turns, there should therefore be six people allowed to sit at the table. “Government and regions towards a positive synthesis on the maximum number of comments in restaurants, both indoors and outdoors – tweeted the minister Mariastella Gelmini – the white zone is a ‘prize’, it would not have made sense to keep the same rules as for the yellow zone. Let’s go back to normal ”.
