Third round Grand Slam debut for the 19 year old Italian who overtook the Japanese number 57 in three sets: 7-5 6-3 6-2. Now the winner of Cecchinato-De Minaur
At the first Slam tournament of his career, Lorenzo Musetti arrives without losing a set in the third round of Roland Garros. After the 6-0 7-5 7-6 trimmed in the first round to David Goffin, today the Carrarese beat the Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka for 7-5 6-3 6-2 showing a varied, bubbly and solid tennis. In the whole game Musetti experienced only one delicate moment and precisely in the eighth game of the first set when he sent the Japanese to serve for the 5-3 forward set. Here the blue, after being two points from losing the set, woke up and began to turn his arm and for Nishioka there was nothing more to do.
In the second set Musetti has already stretched from the fourth game, then in the sixth he canceled a ball of the counter break before closing for 6-3 with another break. In the third set Musetti tried to make a void in the second game (two missed break points), but he had to wait for the sixth game to fly towards the finish line in just 2 hours and 9 minutes of play. Musetti finished with 4 aces, 74% of firsts, 39 winners, 24 free mistakes and 109 total points against Nishioka’s 86. In the third round Musetti awaits the winner of the match between Marco Cecchinato and Alex De Minaur. With Musetti the Azzurri qualified for the third round rise to four. In addition to Musetti also Fognini, Berettini and the winner of the match in progress between Sinner and Mager. The fifth could be Cecchinato as opposed to De Minaur.
