NOVELLARA (REGGIO EMILIA). The scenario of the killing of Saman Abbas, the eighteen-year-old disappeared in Novellara di Reggio Emilia, is becoming increasingly clear: the crime was actually committed by her uncle, Danish Hasnain, a thirty-three-year-old investigated for the murder and the concealment of the girl’s body together with his parents and two cousins, but the young man was only the armed arm of an action conceived and wanted by the whole family, which wanted to impose on the teenager an arranged marriage with another cousin in Pakistan. The victim’s 16-year-old brother would have confirmed the investigative hypothesis of the crime, however denied by the teenager’s parent, which the other day he told from Pakistan, where he took refuge with his wife, brother and a cousin, all under investigation for same crimes, that the daughter would be alive and would be in Belgium.

Saman, resumed the search for the Pakistani girl with the help of dogs: it is suspected that she is buried in the fields

But in the front row among the accused are Saman’s parents, the 46-year-old Shabbar and the 47-year-old Nazia Shaheen, who in the face of the girl’s constant refusals to marry her relative would have killed the girl and then hid her body – there are the images of a video surveillance system that see them equipped with shovels and other tools – in the countryside of Novellara, where their father worked on a farm. The searches of the carabinieri continue with the help of dogs between greenhouses, fields and canals of a very large area.

The new important turning point in the investigation, which saw the recent arrest in France of one of the investigated cousins, would be contained in the testimony given by the victim’s brother, currently a guest of a community for minors in a secret location: the boy would have confirmed motive and dynamics of the murder: in the night between 30 April and 1 May she was taken by her parents to a camp, where she was immobilized and then killed by her uncle. It would have been the latter who made the body disappear with the help of two other people filmed in turn by the cameras of a surveillance system. They are the three that appear in the video examined by the investigators. In the coming days, Saman’s 16-year-old brother and Ikram Ijaz, the cousin arrested in Nimes, France, while fleeing to Barcelona, will be questioned. Today the latter will be heard by a French magistrate at the request of the prosecutor Laura Galli, who coordinates the investigation.

Meanwhile, there is a public dissociation which is a real moral condemnation, given that the Union of Islamic Communities of Italy, on its website, has made it known that it will issue, “in concert with the Islamic Association of Imams and religious guides, a fatwa against forced arranged marriages and the equally tribal custom of female infibulation ”. The UCOII says that the Union “strongly rejects this type of conception of the condition of women and of people’s lives in general. These are behaviors that cannot find any religious justification, therefore absolutely to be condemned, and even more so to be prevented ».
