This was stated by the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, at the end of the EU summit.
“The IT infrastructure” needed to make the digital certificate work “will be ready from June 1st,” added the president. “Member States will now play a key role in ensuring that national health systems receive information on the health of citizens so that the certificate can be issued,” von der Leyen said.
“I think the certificate is a unique opportunity to show how the European Union cconcretely attributes to people’s daily life”, He concluded.
Brussels also estimates that it will receive nearly one billion doses of the Covid-19 vaccine in the second half of the year. In detail, according to estimates, 529 million doses should be delivered to the member states of the block in the third quarter, while in the fourth quarter they should be 452 million for a total of 981 million.
