Everything is ready in Olbia for the 18th edition of the Rally Italia Sardegna, the fifth round of the WRC World Championship.

The event, organized by the Automobile Club Italia with the collaboration of the Sardinia Region, will start at 9 tomorrow with the shakedown of Loiri (2.89 km) and will continue in the evening with the ceremonial departure from Alghero. From Friday to Sunday, 20 special stages will be run, for a total of 393.10 timed km.

The Ris will also be valid for Wrc2, Wrc3 and for the Italian Rally Terrain Championship which, after the shakedown scheduled for tomorrow afternoon, will concentrate and end on Friday.

11 WRCs at the start of the world championship, entrusted to the Toyota officers, Ogier, Evans and Rovanpera (plus Katsuta), Ford MSport, Greensmith and Suninen, and Hyundai, Neuville, Tanak and Sordo, winner of the last two editions and eager to conquer the third (plus Loubet).

In the race, among the 55 at the start, also 7 Sardinian crews. Francesco Marrone stands out, the only one present at all editions, navigated by Francesco Fresu, color bearers of Autoservice Sport such as Giuseppe Pozzo-Pietro Paolo Cottu, Giambattista Conti-Marco Demontis, Davide Biancu-Luigi Pittalis, Raffaele Donadio-Mirko Luisotti and Andrea Gallu -Fabio Salis, the latter from Porto Cervo as Michele Liceri-Salvatore Mendola. In Wrc3 the navigator Stefano Pudda will give the notes to Pablo Biolghini. Among the sailors is the yellow and blue Claudio Mele, who will join Donetto.

In Cirt, on the other hand, out of 44 crews at the start, 5 are Sardinian. Giuseppe Dettori and Carlo Pisano, color bearers of Autoservice Sport, will be on board a Skoda Fabia R5. In R2C there will be Maurizio Pusceddu and Veronica Cottu (Peugeot 208), also from the yellow-blue team, like Francesco Fois and Lorenzo Vacca, aboard a Renault Clio Rs 2.0. In the R2B class, on the other hand, the two Peugeot 208s of the Fabrizio Schirru-Sergio Deiana and Sandro Locci-Fabrizio Musu crews, both color bearers of Porto Cervo Racing.
