If the numbers of the pandemic (contagions, rt, hospitalizations and intensive care) maintain the current trend, from 21 June all of Italy will be a white zone. Infections have in fact dropped by 27% in the last week. A situation witnessed by the latest Covid bulletin which recorded 62 deaths from Covid in Italy. With today’s data, in fact, all Italian regions except the Val d’Aosta they have fallen to an incidence below the risk threshold of 50 cases per week per 100,000 inhabitants. By law, three consecutive sub-threshold monitors are required to allow a region to gain the scenario with fewer restrictions, without curfew.
For this reason, thanks to last Friday’s monitoring, they went to the white area of Sardinia, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Molise. While the next report from the control room expected on Friday 4 June will certify the white zone the following Monday for Abruzzo, Liguria, Veneto and Umbria.
There are seven more days left in Lazio, Lombardy, Piedmont, Puglia, Emilia Romagna and the Province of Trento. But the monitoring of the day after tomorrow will trigger the countdown for seven other regions, which will enter their first report with an incidence below 50, thanks to tomorrow’s data (those evaluated by the Control Room): Sicily (today’s weekly incidence of 50 cases for one hundred thousand), Marche (42), Tuscany (42), Province of Bolzano (49), Calabria (48), Basilicata (44) and Campania (49).
After another two monitoring below the threshold they will go blank, hopefully, on Monday 21 June, reaching the others. Only the Val d’Aosta remains out, which still has an incidence of 61 per hundred thousand: in all probability it will end up under 50 in the monitoring of 11 June, to be declared a white zone on Monday 28 June, after two other reports .
Undersecretary Costa hopes “at least for outdoor venues in the white zone, to remove the limitation of the ceiling while for indoor venues the loosening could be gradual”. In white zone there is no longer a curfew.
The Minister for Autonomies, Mariastella Gelmini, is instead convinced to leave this restriction only for the yellow zone. In any case, the technicians of the Regions should also participate in the technical table, who say they are surprised “that the government’s interpretation of the issue has taken place independently”.
However, among the topics there will also be the possible opening of discos (the CTS is examining the proposed protocols) and the wedding sector, for which it is hoped that there may be exceptions.
On the vaccination front we enter the new phase that – second General Figliuolo – will lead to the «shoulder» by pointing to remaining 28 million Italians to be immunized. New loads are ready to fuel the mass campaign, with another two and a half million doses, in addition to the 3.5 of Pfizer already in distribution, arriving this week (370 thousand Johnson & Johnson just stocked in Pratica di Mare and another 1,744 .100 of Astrazeneca and 398 thousand of Moderna by June 4). Overall, about 65 million doses will be needed to complete the calibrated Plan at least until the second ‘shot’. It starts in companies, with 812 points of administration – also involved the giants of Leonardo, Tim and Enel – for groups of companies, banks and insurance companies. The president of Inail, Franco Bettoni, however, invites first of all to consider “the workers most exposed to contagion”. The institute has estimated 6 million and 839 thousand people at greatest risk. Those with priority 1 are engaged in the food sector and shopping centers: over 2 million. In the tourism sector, on the other hand, there are 72 thousand while in the transport sector, 630 thousand.
