A car went off the road and hit a 3-year-old boy who was taken to hospital in serious condition by helicopter rescue. It happened shortly after noon in via Amendola in Paderno Dugnano (Milan). The car, driven by a 72-year-old man, ended up inside the Parco Lago Nord (or “Cava Nord”), which is forbidden to traffic. The park is a recovered former quarry consisting of two lakes, one dedicated to fishing, the other to the use of the inhabitants of the area.
According to an initial reconstruction, the motorist, probably taken ill, lost control of the vehicle who broke through a fence and then fell for a few meters into the park below. The car, as reported corriere.it, overwhelmed a family of three who were taking souvenir photos, fully investing the 3-year-old child. Instead, his father and mother were unharmed.
The firefighters, the carabinieri and the helicopter rescue that took the child in red code to the Bergamo hospital intervened on the spot. The driver of the car was also less seriously injured.
