Hundreds of people took to the streets in Rome to say no to racism. The event organized by the Black Lives Matter of the capital saw the adhesion of many organizations close to anti-fascism, including the Italian Palestinians. “I am the daughter of Palestinian parents but I was born in Rome, so I feel connected to both lands. I am here to try to defeat all the injustices in the world”, tells us a young Palestinian woman. The fight against racism, Ius soli and rights for all those people who live in the beautiful country were the central themes of the sit-in. “It is not just a question of Ius Soli, here in the square there are also forty-year-olds who want to change Italy for the better”, explains Josef Yemane of the Black Lives Matter of the Capital. Moments of tension occurred when the police took steps to remove a banner that recalled Musa, the 22-year-old who died after being beaten by a group of boys.
