A flurry of warranty notices ready on the desks of the Bergamo magistrates pool busy investigating the pandemic. This is the tip that came from a source close to the Prosecutor’s Office directly to the Newspaper. At the center is the EU directive, 1082 of 2013 and ratified in the Official Gazette by the then Minister of Health Beatrice Lorenzin, which obliges Italy “to develop a generic plan to prepare for serious cross-border threats that could constitute an international health emergency”. Obligation not respected – is the thesis of the prosecutors – by ministers and managers of the Ministry of Health.
For this reason, headlights focused on Lorenzin herself, but also on Giulia Grillo e Roberto Speranza, both holders of the dicastery since 2014. They are then added Claudio D’Amario and his predecessor as responsible for Prevention. Ranieri Guerramoreover, he is already under investigation for false statements made to prosecutors on the missing WHO report. And still there are the director of the ISS Silvio Brusaferro and the chief of staff of Hope Goffredo Zaccardi. With them the councilor for welfare Giulio Gallera and the former director general of Lombard health Luigi Cajazzo.
The missing red zone in Val Seriana is in the sights, despite the discovery of the first cases of coronavirus in the emergency room of the Alzano Lombardo hospital. Yet the list would be much longer. The former medical director of the Alzano hospital, in fact, points the finger at the minister Roberto Speranza. Still on the subject, months ago the deputy prosecutor of Bergamo Maria Cristina Rota he denounced “reticence” on the part of the top management of the department led by the representative of Leu regarding the investigations on the outdated pandemic plan. In short, there may not be good news for Speranza. On the other hand, this is what the magistrates are asking, one wonders if the tragic consequences of Covid in Italy could be at least partially mitigated.
